How to re-vamp your social media!

By: Peter Cullen, Business Development Associate

Are you doing the marketing for your business? Are you struggling to produce content, gather followers, generating engagement? Well, it's your lucky day because below are listed some tips and tricks to re-vamping your social media accounts that will drive more customers to your business. Regardless of your views on social media, it's your digital storefront that will either lure customers in or will keep them walking down the street to your competitor.

Building a Social Media Strategy

A social media strategy is the what, where, when, why, and how for every piece of your content. It is the reason you post.

Your strategy is developed from social media insights, knowing your audience and your niche, what their problems are, and understanding how to use all of that to attract them to your business. Your strategy is what later turns into your organic presence online and what saves you time down the road to allow you to shift your focus to other aspects of the business.

Consistency

Consistency on social media is what assures your clients/future clients that you are a reliable brand. It shows your clients that you are confident in who you are as a business. Understand that consistency and frequency are TOTALLY different.

Being consistent shows you what works and what doesn't. It creates data for you to analyze to get an even better understanding of what your audience wants and doesn't want. Set clear content goals, plan ahead, learn from your audience, sell yourself and not only the brand, and my biggest advice would be to use a scheduling tool to allow more time for other aspects of your business. Additionally, be consistent in your branding. Each post on social media should have the same look and feel. If your customer saw your post on social media without your name, would they be able to identify it as your business?

Engaging Content

Creating diverse, visual content is imperative for your social media content. It's what separates you from the rest and makes future clients more interested in the brand.

Effective content drives your audience to the brand (website) which just leads them to everything you have to offer. Video content is now the new thing, with Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube videos being the main source of social media marketing for many! Many social media platforms like Facebook, rank video content higher on your social media feed, meaning that your subscribers will see your content first. More than 50% of people are visual learners, and it is proven that being presented with information in visual content is way easier to retain than reading a heavy-worded article. Make your brand memorable. Get creative. Visual content is one of the best ways to warm up the audience.

Get Personal

It's time to get in front of the camera. Forget the business jargon and let your customers see the heart and soul behind your brand.

Members of the audience love knowing that there is an actual person just like them, behind the curtains. Don't be afraid to normalize things and talk about things going on in your daily life. Share thoughts, feelings, ideas, lessons, etc. Share anything that makes you more human, which allows for a more loyal and trustworthy relationship. More times than not, it comes down to how you sold yourself to the customer, rather than how you sold the product.

Learn Best Practices for Each Channel

Each social media platform/channel has different strategies and different optimal times of posting. Being able to understand the differences will improve the engagement of your social media accounts and drive leads.

Understanding the differences, the dominant age groups, and what each platform is best used for is imperative. This will only help with reaching the target audience for your brand, as well as create room for more engagement. For example, on Twitter, you can't just post once a day or a couple of times a week. Shooting for 6-10 tweets a day and staying consistent with those numbers is what will grow your account. Twitter also helps keep you updated with the best hashtags and trends that are occurring, allowing you the opportunity to reach an ever wider range of audience members.
